Position: COMMUNITY HEALTH EDUCATOR

CONTEXT
Médecins Sans Frontières is a private, not-for-profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in distress, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, creed or political atiliation.
MSF has been active in Katsina since February 2021 after carrying an exploratory mission that end up with an opening of the project Currently, MSF is running two ITFCs (inpatient Therapeutic Feeding Centre) in Katsina in the Kofar Sauri PHCC and
Turai Yar’adua PHCC and 5 ATFC (Ambulatory Therapeutic Feeding Centre) including three in fibia LGA (Magama, Daddara. Riko.) one in Mashi and one in Katsina City (Kofar Marusa).
MAIN PURPOSE
Prepare, provide and present health education sessions to the population/patients according MSF principles and values in order to promote health information through health mesures and hygiene conditions as weil as provide information about MSF activities in order to facilitate access to healthcare
JOB DESCRIPTION
• Prepara material and deliver health education sessions, messages and topics addressed to different populations regarding hygiene, discases and prevantion.
• Ensure all the patients and carctakers are well informed, according to protocols, about health-related issues and services provided
• Monitor health situation and living conditions of the population by conducting nutritional screening, collecting information related to food security, checking vaccination status of children, looking actively for any defaulters in programs that require this type of rescarch, collecting information on number of people arriving or leaving the community, births and deaths in the community, etc.
• Identify people with medical probiems, contact the medical team and report for immediate transfer if needed. Hie/she must inform to the line manager about any problem encountered (population, equipment, material…).
• Report to line manager of all results of screening and visits on a regular basis.
: Conduct Daily Health education sessions within the facility
Collect, review and share data weekdy in the data collection tool for action by the direct supervisor/Manager
• Collect daily, weekly, feedback, challenges, recommendations and submit to the line Manager/Supervisor for action and decision making.
Assess the IEC needs in the facility and share with the Supervisor/Line Manager for action.
• Provide the necessary patient support within the health facility, including information on the services offered for the patient to make informed decisions, especially in cases of admission.
• Demonstrate the use of RUTF and the bencfits to the targeted beneficiary to achieve the desired results
• Perform any other responsibility assigned by the Line Manager/Supervisor
• Collect information of absentees and defaulters and share information with the community volunteers
• Lead in ters of tracing of absentee and defaulters patients via phones and making necessary reports
• Collect relevant information of absentees and defaulters, including the origin and proper classification (absentee and defaulters) and share with supervisor for reporting
• Ensure the smooth identification of all CVs and Mother(family) referrals within the ATFC for proper screening, patients’ support and reporting.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
Diploma in public health, community health, health education and any other related field.
Experience

Languages
Hausa and English languages essential. Mission language is desirable

208 working hours per month.
REMUNERATION
According to MSF salary scale plus 13″ month allowance equivalent to I month of gross salary
