Position Details 

  • Work Location: Katsina, Nigeria
  • Opening Date: August 8, 2025
  • Closing Date: August 13, 2025, by 4:00 PM
  • Contract Type: Fixed Term (Open-Ended Contract)
  • Working Hours: 208 hours per month
  • Remuneration: Based on MSF salary scale, plus a 13th-month allowance equivalent to one month’s gross salary

About MSF and the Katsina Project

Médecins Sans Frontières is a private, not-for-profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in distress, without discrimination based on race, religion, creed, or political affiliation. MSF has been active in Katsina since February 2021, following an exploratory mission that led to the establishment of the project.

Main Purpose of the Role

The Registrar will ensure the smooth registration and admission of patients visiting MSF health facilities, preparing them for consultations in line with MSF protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Welcome and Orientation:
    • Greet patients warmly and inform them about the facility’s operations.
    • Ensure a comfortable waiting area for patients and their relatives.
    • Manage patient flow to avoid overcrowding and long waiting times.
    • Orient patients regarding the facility’s circuits.
  • Registration and Data Management:
    • Register patients’ administrative details accurately.
    • Check vaccination status of children under 5 and refer for immunization if needed.
    • Assign identification bracelets with the child’s ID number and center name.
    • Refer eligible patients to the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP).
    • Record patient exits (cured, defaulter, death, or transfer) and absentees.
    • Maintain and promote confidentiality of all registered information.
    • Complete nutrition cards and keep daily records of patients seen in the ATFC.
    • Remove identification bracelets for patients declared cured or non-responders.
    • Ensure registers are accurately updated and maintain a proper filing system.
  • Collaboration and Reporting:
    • Work closely with nurses, Community Health Workers (CHWs), and OTP staff to track defaulters and monitor re-admissions.
    • Collaborate on daily, weekly, and monthly nutrition statistics reports.
    • Provide information to consultants as needed.

Requirements

  • Education: Essential literacy.
  • Experience: No prior experience required.
  • Languages:
    • Fluency in English (reading, writing, and oral comprehension) is essential.
    • Fluency in Hausa is essential.
  • Knowledge: Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, and internet).
