Brief about DEC
Development Exchange Centre (DEC) is a non-governmental, non-discriminating, not- for-profit, women-focused organization improving the well-being of women groups and communities in Nigeria through socio-economic interventions for sustainable development. DEC is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as an entity incorporated by trust with number (10826).
Project overview
CASCADE project is a multi-year (2022-2026), multi-country program funded by Government of the Netherlands.To improve food security and contribute to the reduction of malnutrition among women of reproductive age and children under 15 years.
Target Populations: 1.1million women of reproductive age (15-49 years), and children under the age of 15 years. With key objectives: To increase access to and consumption of healthy diets, increase resilience of nutritional situation to price shocks and climate-change related shocks. The Project is being implemented by CARE International (lead partner) and Development Exchange Centre.
Summary of Position:
· DEC seeks to employ a qualified and experienced person into the position of Project Coordinator, reporting to the DEC Head of Programs, the Project Coordinator has overall responsibility for the day-to-day operational delivery, implementation, and monitoring of the project, specifically focusing on tracking the progress and status of project activities. S/he will play a coordination role in DEC’s cross-functional project teams and support the maintenance of relationships with partners and stakeholders.
· The Project Coordinator shall be responsible for liaising with stakeholders within their assigned project components and ensuring that project outputs and activities are successfully implemented within approved plans, budget, timeline, and quality standards.
· The Project Coordinator will ensure that interventions by different partners are well coordinated, so that overall project milestones and goals are met. S/he will be expected to provide technical support as required.
Key Responsibilities:
· Managing the project schedule, activity plan and planning milestones, supporting the tracking of progress and deliverables from project partners.
· Contributing to close collaboration with the DEC Head of Programs to the design and planning of the scope, activities, and objectives of the project.
· Establishing and managing working relations with diverse stakeholders – INGOs, government departments, business, and non-profit partners.
Qualifications and Experience for the position:
- B.Sc./HND in Project Management, Development Studies, Business Management, International Relations/Studies, Sustainable Development, Economics, Development studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, LLB Law or related work experience. A master’s degree would be an added advantage.
- A minimum of 5 years previous experience with project management/budgeting is highly desired and ability to develop Terms of Reference for project consultants.
- The ideal candidate should have strong project management skills especially in delivering projects on time/on budget, using project management processes and tools including risk management, benefits management, financial management and quality assurance.
- S/he should demonstrate project administration systems, including financial administration.
- The post holder should be able to build strong partnerships with communities, government, private entities and implementing partners.
Other requirements for the Job role:
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous attention to details with superb organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong report writing skill is necessary and communication skills.
- Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office and any project management software.
