ABOUT THE FLOURISH MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME: The FLOURISH Mentorship Programme is a capacity-strengthening initiative led by ActionAid Nigeria, specifically designed to build the leadership, governance, financial system, and organisational capacities of underrepresented Young Women-Led Organizations (WLOs) in humanitarian and emergency contexts in the BAY States (Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe). As part of this ongoing mentorship programme, ActionAid Nigeria has trained a cohort of Young Women-Led Organisations through structured mentorship and capacity-building sessions aimed at enabling the Underrepresented Young Women-Led Organisation to play a more strategic, sustainable, and accountable role in humanitarian space across Northeast Nigeria. In continuation of this mentorship journey, the FLOURISH Mentorship Fund has been introduced as an integral part of the ongoing programme to provide a practical platform for Young WLO organisations to apply their acquired skills, test their internal systems, and lead community-based humanitarian initiatives. The grant forms part of the core component of the FLOURISH Mentorship Programme.
ABOUT THE GRANT: The grant is designed to test the organisational systems, leadership capacity, and financial management processes of participating Young Women Led organisations following the recently concluded mentorship training and continuation of the capacity-building journey. The opportunity will prioritize 80% of the grants for Young Women-Led Organisations currently undergoing the FLOURISH Mentorship Training, while 20% of the grants will be made available to new and emerging Young Women-Led Organisations not currently in the FLOURISH programme but working within humanitarian and emergency response in the BAY States. The selected organisations will receive a small seed grant ranges from $500 to $1,000 USD per organisation and will run for three (3) months to address identified key community-based challenges in humanitarian and emergency settings through practical project implementation.
OBJECTIVES OF THE GRANT:
- To provide an opportunity for young women-led organisations to practically apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the FLOURISH mentorship training.
- To promote gender-responsive, community-driven humanitarian interventions led by young women. To build trust and track records for young women-led organisations within the humanitarian sector.
- To build the capacity of underrepresented Young Women-led organisations in understanding the Humanitarian Architecture, including the Cluster System, Humanitarian Programme Cycle, and response frameworks through direct implementation.
GRANT DURATION:
August to October 2025 (3 months)
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
To qualify for a grant award, the applicant must:
- Please do not apply if your organisation is not from Bono, Yobe or Adamawa (BAY States)
- Be registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), relevant government agency or recognised youth network and have an organisational bank account.
- only Young Women Led organization are from BAY states are eligible to apply (the lead must be between the age range of 18 – 35). Members can be younger or older so long as the leadership is within the stipulated age range.
- Have relevant experience and proven records of working with communities and groups in activities related to women and girls in their communities.
- Open to all Young Women-Led Organisation in BAY states with prioritisation to organisations currently in the programme and have gone through AAN due diligence process.
- Must be working within humanitarian and emergency response contexts.
- Must demonstrate readiness to test internal systems, apply learning, and manage small-scale grant
