Post Description:

The purpose of this role is to provide strategic and technical support Protection component and support in empowering vulnerable individuals in Madagali LGA to build resilient communities by reducing protection concerns and GBV. The post holder is expected to have a strong protection background, a professional working background and understanding of the socio- cultural context of the target communities in Michika LGA, high level skills in program monitoring, report writing, communication and representation and the ability to influence and build capacity of program staff on the Strengthening Protection/GBV Among Girls, Women and PWD SPCA project on protection, safeguarding and PSEAH principles.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

Work with project staff to support the practical implementation of protection and SPCA implementation, monitoring and program review to comply with the principle of ‘do no harm’.

Ensure that SPCA project follows CAFOD and JDPC best practices on systematic protection analysis, monitoring and evaluation and reporting, targeting of project participants, choice of implementation strategy, making sure the projects do no harm.

Provide advice, guidance, and follow-up in relation to protection aspects of the SPCA community feedback mechanism adapted to the needs of the target communities and socio-cultural JDP Context.

Lead project team in the development and implementation protection components during project life circle.

Oversee the implementation of protection activities and ensure adequate gender implementation across program field locations.

Develop activity work plans and manage day-to-day activity implementation related to protection.

Advising about the effects of discrimination on grounds of age, disability, gender, race, religion, and sexual orientation.

Acting as a liaison and representing vulnerable groups in the community for inclusion, diversity, and protection of members of the community

Raising    awareness,    sensitization     and    promoting    change    on    protection implementation

Conducting gender and diversity analysis on each beneficiary selected

Interpreting and ensuring safeguarding policies and compliance on “Do no harm” during project implementation.

Facilitate referrals and liaise with relevant organizations and community groups on protection case management, diversity inclusion and protection implementation.

Assist in developing beneficiary selection criteria for the inclusion of vulnerable groups and diversity.

Provide technical feedback on protection implementation indicators and ensure vulnerability criteria are adopted in selecting beneficiaries.

Coordinate and facilitate community sessions on protection implementation during training and ensure gender and social inclusion.

Coordinate community base protection network for participatory monitoring and evaluation, reflective practice, and impact measurement.

Conduct project assessment on a quarterly basis to assess the progress of the project for adjustments, and possible improvements.

Organize meetings and FGD with beneficiaries on protection implementation, gender and inclusion and provide diverse feedback to program team.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Reporting

Carry out regular field visits to track the progress of program activities by JDPC to identify gaps concerning and protection in implementation and propose improvements.

Conduct any other programming responsibility delegated by the supervisor.

Education and Experience

University degree or equivalent in Social Science, Social Work, Psychology, or related fields

Minimum of 2-4 years relevant working experience in GBV, gender and protection related programming in Northeast Nigeria.

Demonstrable knowledge of gender and protection appropriate for emergency and recovery settings, including gender-based violence, gender equity.

Demonstrable competence in communication, relationship management, and influencing skills JDPC staff, local stakeholders and project participants.

Flexibility and resourcefulness in responding to work-related challenges and the capacity to engage teams and work promptly to solve problems.

Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement.

Experience using MS Windows, MS Teams and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
