About the Role
STRATEGIC HUMANITARIAN AID DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION (SHADE) is seeking a committed and knowledgeable Education Officer to support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of education-focused interventions in conflict-affected communities. The Education Officer will work closely with project teams, local stakeholders, and education authorities to ensure quality delivery of learning services that promote inclusive and equitable education for vulnerable children, particularly girls and adolescents affected by insurgency-related disruptions.
This role is ideal for a passionate educator or program professional who thrives in humanitarian contexts and is committed to advancing access to safe, quality, and inclusive education.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation & Quality
Support the execution of education activities, including school reintegration, learning assessments, and teacher capacity development.
Facilitate the delivery of psychosocial support and life skills training integrated with education programming.
Monitor and report on project progress, ensuring alignment with work plans and donor requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with school administrators, community leaders, local education authorities, and parents to ensure community ownership and sustainability.
Represent SHADE in education clusters, working groups, and coordination forums.
Capacity Building & Support
Train and mentor community-based facilitators, volunteers, and education personnel.
Develop and adapt learning materials and tools suitable for conflict-affected learners.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
Collect and analyze field data to inform learning and improvement.
Contribute to donor reporting and project documentation, including case studies and success stories.
Key Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in implementing education programs within humanitarian or development contexts.
Familiarity with non-formal education, adolescent learning, and education in emergencies (EiE) is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated understanding of inclusive education principles and safeguarding.
Fluency in English and at least one local language (Hausa, Kanuri, or Shuwa) is an asset.
Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and coordination skills.
