Funded Traineeships at the EU Delegation to the United Nations in New York
The EU Delegation to the United Nations in New York is offering funded traineeships to young graduates interested in international relations. The traineeships will last from 3 to 6 months, starting in September 2025, and will be based in one of the following sections:
1. *Political Affairs and Security Council*: Deals with international peace and security, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, and non-proliferation/disarmament issues.
2. *Coordination, Press and Information*: Ensures policy coordination, organizes EU Ambassadors meetings, and conducts press and public diplomacy activities.
3. *International Partnerships and Sustainable Development*: Works on achieving Agenda 2030 and its Sustainable Development Goals, covering social, economic, green, and digital issues.
4. *Human Rights and Social Affairs*: Responsible for human rights and social affairs, including discussions and negotiations on civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights.
5. *UN Horizontal Issues, UN Budgets, Management and Reform*: Handles administrative and budgetary matters, determining how the Organization translates its mandates into tangible outcomes.
6. *Legal and Institutional Affairs, Counter-terrorism and Sanctions*: Deals with UN legal affairs, accountability issues, UN sanctions, and counter-terrorism activities.
7. *Humanitarian Affairs*: Represents the EU in international dialogues on humanitarian issues, engages in humanitarian advocacy and diplomacy, and maintains contacts with humanitarian partners.
*Main Tasks*
– Supporting the work of the section
– Coordinating EU Member States’ positions
– Drafting reports and organizing meetings
– Attending external events
*Requirements*
– Excellent drafting skills in English (knowledge of French is an asset)
– Knowledge of the workings of the European Union and the United Nations is an advantage

*Important Information*
– Deadline: April 27, 2025
– Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses
– All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, and accommodation must be borne by the trainee
*Eligibility Criteria*
– Candidates must meet the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship)
– Citizens from EU Member states must provide proof of coverage against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation
*Practical Information*
– The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin
– Selected candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview
