Call for Participation: Capacity-Building Workshop on Identity-Based Polarization and Social Cohesion in Nigeria
As part of Beyond Conflict’s ongoing initiative to equip local actors with evidence-based tools to address identity-based polarization, we are pleased to invite applications for an in-person 2-day capacity-building workshop taking place in Lagos (May 9–10) and Abuja (May 16–17).
This workshop is designed for individuals working at the intersection of research, community engagement, and peacebuilding—those actively contributing to a more inclusive, resilient, and socially cohesive Nigeria.
Who Should Apply?
We welcome professionals and emerging leaders working in:
– Research & Academia
– Peacebuilding & Civil Society
– Media & Communications
– Community Development
– Human Rights & Social Justice
– Interfaith or Intergroup Relations
– Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)
– Conflict Mediation / ADR
– Advocacy & Policy Engagement
– Traditional/Religious Leadership
– Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)
– Security Sector / Law Enforcement
– Donor / Development Agencies
Participants will:
– Deepen their understanding of identity-based polarization and its psychological drivers.
– Receive hands-on training in using the Polarization Index to assess community dynamics.
– Learn how to design and evaluate context-specific interventions
– Network with peers and established practitioners in the field.
Note: Participation in this workshop is free of charge and limited to individuals who are based in and actively working in Nigeria. Meals and workshop materials will be provided. Participants traveling from outside Lagos or Abuja will also receive accommodation support for the duration of the workshop.
Following the workshop, four participants will be selected to receive small grants to implement locally-driven solutions in their communities, with continued technical support from our team.
