Job Description
ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) is an international financial institution established by the 15 Member States of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). EBID includes: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) uses three official languages: English, French, and Portuguese.Interpretation services for ECOWAS events can includesimultaneous interpretation, in-person interpretation, and video conferencing.
Here are some resources for language interpretation in ECOWAS:
ECREEE: Offers simultaneous interpretation services from and into the three ECOWAS official languages
ECOWAS Commission: Organizes the Specialised Trainings for Interpreters and Translators (STIT) to build language and communication skills among ECOWAS citizens and staff
UNGM: Offers in-person language interpretation services in French, Portuguese, and sign language
WACSI: Provides guidance on using professional interpreters, advanced interpretation tools, and guidelines for participants to access interpretation services.
Some types of interpreters include:
Simultaneous interpreters: Common at conferences, summits, and multilingual gatherings
Consecutive interpreters: Another type of interpreter
Conference interpreters: Another type of interpreter
Sign language interpreters: Must be fluent in English and American Sign Language (ASL)
Whisper interpreters: Translate for a small group by whispering into their ears.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Competences
Candidates should possess a minimum of an HND / OND / NCE qualification
Candidates must be off Hausa Lanquage Speaking and Hause-Nigeria Territory
Experience Level: Mid level
Experience Length: 3 years
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
Salary
$2,600 – $3,000 / Month.
