This fellowship program offers a unique opportunity for scholars and professionals to engage in focused research and collaboration. Here’s a breakdown of the key details:

Duration:

Fellowships are available for either five or ten months, with the following options:

• Five Months: September 2025 – January 2026, or February 2026 – June 2026
• Ten Months: September 2025 – June 2026

Candidates are required to specify their preferred duration during the application process.

Residence:

Fellows are required to reside in the Florence area throughout the duration of their fellowship. This is to ensure active participation in the activities of the European University Institute (EUI) or the School of Transnational Governance (STG) and to fully engage in the fellowship program. Note that remote or online participation in the fellowship is not permitted. However, fellows may take short visits outside of Florence and Italy.

Grant:

• The standard fellowship grant is €2,500 per month.
• Fellows who receive additional grants or salaries are required to disclose this information to the EUI. The fellowship amount may be adjusted (minimum €1,750 per month) based on the level of additional income, supported by relevant documentation.

Family Allowances:

Additional allowances are available under specific conditions:

• Partner Allowance: A household allowance of up to €300 per month is provided to fellows with a partner if the partner resides with them in Florence and has a monthly income below €2,000. The combined total of the allowance and the partner’s income cannot exceed €2,000 per month.
• Child Allowance: An allowance of €200 per month is paid for each dependent child. Eligibility requires declaration that no similar allowance is received from another source and provision of relevant supporting documents such as marriage or cohabitation certificates and birth certificates.
• For children over 18 in full-time education, school or university certificates are required.
• No allowances are paid for dependent children over the age of 26.

Taxation:

Fellowship grants are not taxed by the EUI. Fellows are responsible for complying with other applicable tax laws and regulations.

Travel Expenses:

• Fellows receive reimbursement for round-trip travel between their place of origin and Florence.
• Reimbursement covers first-class rail travel or equivalent for car travel and economy class airfare.
• The maximum total reimbursement for travel, both to and from Florence, is €1,200.
• Note: Taxi expenses are not reimbursed.

Relocation:
There is no provision for removal or installation expenses.
