JOB PURPOSE
The Logistics Manager will plan, coordinate and monitor logistics-related activities at the mission and Abuja coordination level. The role covers technical and logistical support including infrastructure, transport, communications, energy, fleet, equipment, water and sanitation, shelter and essential non-food items.
The successful candidate will support the Logistics Coordinator in ensuring that logistics activities are implemented according to MSF standards, protocols and procedures and will serve as a technical reference for logistics and technical matters.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Logistics Coordinator in planning and following up on logistics activities in coordination with relevant project managers.
Identify and respond to logistics needs relating to construction, transportation, communication, food, shelter, water and sanitation and essential non-food items.
Ensure proper implementation and monitoring of logistics and technical activities, including construction, transportation, communications, vehicles, engines, equipment and infrastructure.
Implement administrative activities related to logistics, including orders, insurance and vehicle contracts.
Support recruitment, training, briefing, evaluation and development of logistics staff.
Provide technical guidance, coaching and mentoring to logistics staff.
Ensure staff are properly briefed on the use of communication equipment such as handsets and HF/VHF systems.
Ensure office spaces and accommodation facilities are properly installed, maintained and kept in suitable living conditions.
Contribute to security management, risk reduction, evacuation planning and contingency planning.
Monitor compliance with security procedures and report relevant issues to the Project Coordinator.
Support monthly reporting in line with MSF WaCA guidelines.
At Abuja Coordination, support logistics planning, monitoring and follow-up under the supervision of the Logistics Coordinator.
Provide technical support on infrastructure, energy, telecommunications, fleet and equipment management.
Monitor logistics indicators and contribute to logistics planning and analysis.
Support capacity building and technical mentoring of logistics personnel.
Work closely with HR, Finance, Medical and Supply departments on cross-functional activities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Technical diploma or university degree, preferably in Engineering.
At least 2 years of experience in logistics management and related activities with MSF and/or other NGOs.
Good command of English.
Essential computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and internet applications.
