Job Opportunity: Shelter Technical Supervisor

Qualifications:

• Diploma in architecture, civil engineering, or urban planning
• Minimum 2 years of experience in shelter & construction (preferably in a humanitarian context)

• Support planning, implementation, and monitoring of shelter and NFI activities.
• Analyze construction methodologies and recommend suitable options.

Job Title: Construction Supervisor

Responsibilities:

• Site Supervision: Oversee all construction, site development, and improvement works. Report delays and issues to supervisors.
• Technical Support: Directly manage and support carpenters and other workers on site. Ensure adherence to designs, safety, standards, and quality.
• Progress Reporting: Prepare and share regular progress and status reports of ongoing construction activities.
• Materials Management: Verify the quality and quantity of materials delivered to sites. Coordinate with warehouse and quality control, report non-conformities.
• Estimation and Planning: Assist in estimating material, equipment, and labor needs. Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for various shelter solutions.
• Community Engagement: Orient local community members and stakeholders about project interventions.
• Assessment: Conduct damage assessments and prepare schedules of dilapidation.
• Internal Support: Assist other units with requests for BOQs and construction supervision.
• Client Accommodation: Assist with renovation/construction for client field accommodation.
• Market Research: Conduct market assessments for construction materials.
• Technical Guidance: Help contractors and workers interpret designs, drawings, and site plans.
• Documentation: Maintain systematic records of project documents, reports, and photos.
• Program Support: Assist in planning and implementation of distributions, conducting assessments, and feedback surveys related to shelter units.
• Coordination: Coordinate with internal units and external stakeholders in field locations.
• Other Duties: Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors.

Reporting Structure:

• Reports to the Shelter – NFI Project Officer and is directly supervised by the Shelter & NFI Project Assistants.

Qualifications & Key Competencies:

• Education: Diploma in architecture, civil engineering, or urban planning from a recognized institution.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of work experience in shelter and construction, preferably in a humanitarian context.
• Knowledge: Sound understanding of the building industry, local construction techniques, and materials.
• Technical Skills: Ability to use design software (e.g., AutoCAD), Microsoft Office Suite, and GPS devices.
• Personal Attributes:
