About the job
- The Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA) invites researchers interested in working in Sub-Saharan Africa to be a part of a dynamic research team that is working on the most pertinent development issues in Africa to inform both policy and practice and influence change. CSEA is a non-profit think tank based in Abuja, Nigeria, that conducts independent evidence-based research. Our objective is to enhance development outcomes in Africa through evidence-based research.
- The role will expose candidates to applied development policy research covering topics in our six thematic areas, including: global economic governance; trade and investment; macroeconomics and public financial management; environment, natural resources, and energy; human capital development; and poverty reduction and inclusive growth.
- In addition, the roles provide an opportunity to contribute to policy-relevant research on development issues in Africa in general and Nigeria in particular.
Qualifications
- Must have BSc. Economics
- Master’s Degree in line with any of CSEA thematic areas and a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience or 3-4 years of research experience
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team and independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to learn and develop projects using on-line information database-tools and resources
- Proficiency in the use of statistical packages
Responsibilities
- Execute research projects as may be directed by the Research Director
- Assist in the identification and selection of new research projects
- Prepare working papers and concept notes
- Support the Centre’s fundraising and communication activities
- Assist with major research project strategy development and attend project review meetings
- Interact with research colleagues on a regular basis to maintain an awareness of division’s needs and activities.
Language
- Fluency in English (Oral and Written)
- Working knowledge of French and Hausa Language (oral and Written) is an added advantage.
