Medecins du Monde (MdM) is an international humanitarian organization whose mission is to provide medical care for the most vulnerable populations, the world over, including France. It seeks to stimulate voluntary commitment from doctors, other health care providers, and from those whose expertise in other fields is needed for its activities, to enlist all competent support required for the achievement of its projects, and to seek at all times to encourage close working relationships with populations in its care. MdM operating in Nigeria, Borno state since October 2016.

Job Title: GBV Officer
Location: Katsina

Job Description
- The Roving GBV Officer is responsible for ensuring the quality and effectiveness of GBV prevention and response activities across the mission’s operational areas.
- This role involves providing technical oversight, capacity building, and continuous monitoring and evaluation to ensure GBV interventions meet the highest standards of care.
Responsibilities
Program Support:
- Oversee the implementation and quality of GBV prevention and response activities across all operational sites.
- Develop and adapt Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and tools for GBV teams in line with MdM global standards and national protocols.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and GBV Supervisors to ensure the technical quality of GBV activities.
- Facilitate the integration of GBV services into broader health and protection programs, ensuring a holistic approach to service delivery.
Capacity Building:
- Development and delivery of training programs for GBV staff, community health workers, and partners.
- Provide continuous technical support and mentoring to GBV teams to strengthen their skills and knowledge.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Analyze data and feedback from the field to identify gaps and areas for improvement in GBV service delivery.
- Ensure regular reporting on the quality and impact of GBV interventions.
Supervision and Reporting:
- Conduct regular field visits to GBV activities, providing on-site guidance and feedback to local teams.
- Conduct regular supervision and prepare detailed reports on GBV activities, challenges, and successes for internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Degree in relevant field (Social work, development studies, humanitarian affairs, gender studies or any other related disciplines).
- Excellent knowledge of international standards and guidelines on GBV in humanitarian settings and ability to implement GBV response in accordance with the guidelines.
- 1-2 years professional experience in humanitarian settings, including at least 1 year of directly working with survivors of GBV using a survivor-centred and multi-sectoral approach.
- Demonstrated ability to assess, supervise and co-ordinate technical work in GBV prevention and response in humanitarian and recovery setting.
- 2-3 years of experience working with health focus organization an asset
- Experience working in the North-east and North-West Nigeria) is highly desirable
- Experience with capacity building of local partners and SMOH staffs.
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Microsoft, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Fluency in local localish (written and spoken) Hausa is a must.
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective working relations with staff and other stakeholders.
Skills:
- Willingness and ability to take initiative not only in identifying problems but also in suggesting and implementing solutions
- Individual and group training skills in GBV
- Ability to take initiative, work independently and foster a team environment.
- Strong organizational, oral and written communication and coordination skills.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good sense of diplomacy and understanding of international global political issues.
- Ability to work with people, good judgment, and commitment to MdM’s mission and programming standards.
- Strong coordination, networking skills and ability to constructively engage with a variety of stakeholders (INGOs, local partners, government officials, community leaders, etc).
- Because of the nature of MDM’s work, working hours may be irregular and employees are expected to be flexible in their approach to working hours under emergency conditions.
- He/she works under the operational supervision of the Field/Area Coordinator
- The selected candidate shall respect Médecins du Monde – France’s schedule and Terms and Conditions of Engagement for National Staff and is expected to be available anytime to answer to an emergency and be flexible and available beyond normal working hours if requested.
Salary
N300,000 – N400,000 / month.
