Call for Abstracts: Research into the Smuggling of Migrants
Call for Abstracts: Research into the Smuggling of Migrants
We are excited to announce the launch of a call for research focusing on the smuggling of migrants.
This initiative by UN Network on Migration Workstream 4 “Ensuring migrant protection through strengthened responses to migrant smuggling and increased coordination on its linkages with trafficking in persons,” was established under the framework of the Global Compact on Migration.
Researchers are invited to submit 300-word abstracts on the following macro-areas:
Understanding decision-making processes shaping individuals’ choices to embark on smuggling-facilitated journeys.
The impact of law enforcement operations to counter the smuggling of migrants on patterns of local development and mobility.
The deadline is 30 June.
Selected contributions will be featured in a Special Issue/Edited Collection produced by the UN Network on Migration. We encourage submissions that utilize gender perspectives and intersectional approaches, and particularly welcome underrepresented voices in ongoing debates on smuggling and counter-smuggling efforts.
Complete, detailed information is available on the Network website – Call for Abstracts
We kindly ask you to share this announcement through your networks to reach researchers and stakeholders who might be interested in contributing to this important field of study.
