Central European University (CEU) in Vienna offers an array of graduate programs dedicated to the multidisciplinary study of the past. Our research and teaching are recognized for their innovative approach to graduate education. As an international faculty and student body we strive to think about the past across geographical regions, academic disciplines, and historical periods, from late antiquity to the present. In order to foster a spirit of critical inquiry, students also receive solid training in historical methods and theory.
The one-year MA in Historical Studies allows you to anchor your own research project in a specific research field, while offering a broad range of courses across historical periods and approaches to the past. Students may apply to the “History” or the “Late Antique and Medieval Studies” track. Many students take this one-year degree to prepare themselves for a PhD program.
CEU is an English-language, student-focused research university located in Vienna and accredited in both Austria and the United States.
