African Union (AU) Internship Program 2024/25 for Young Africans
The African Union (AU) is a Pan-African continental organization dedicated to driving Africa’s integration and sustainable development by fostering unity, solidarity, and cooperation among African nations and people.
Headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the AU also seeks to establish partnerships worldwide to advance these objectives.
To enhance its capacity and ensure the effective implementation of its organizational mandates, the African Union Commission invites applications from citizens of Member States for its 2024/25 Internship Program.
Focus Areas
Interns will assist in providing administrative and technical support across various AU departments and directorates, including:
Cabinet of the Chairperson
Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy, and Sustainable Environment (ARBE)
Economic Development, Trade, Industry, and Mining (ETIM)
Health, Humanitarian Affairs, and Social Development (HHS)
Women, Gender, and Youth (WGY)
Political Affairs, Peace, and Security (PAPS)
Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (ESTI)
Infrastructure and Energy (IE)
And many more.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Be nationals of an AU Member State.
Be actively enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree program OR have obtained a Bachelor’s or postgraduate (Master’s) degree in a relevant field.
Be fluent in at least one AU working language (Arabic, English, French, or Portuguese). Proficiency in additional AU languages is an advantage.
Be no older than 32 years at the time of selection.
Demonstrate high moral conduct and integrity.
Have no serious criminal convictions.
Note: Prior work experience is not required.
Required Skills
Applicants should possess the following skills:
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email applications.
Strong interpersonal and communication abilities (both oral and written).
Adaptability to a multicultural environment.
Fluency in one AU working language; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.

Provide participants with professional exposure and hands-on experience in their fields of study.
Help interns develop their personal and professional skills in a multicultural environment.
Encourage understanding of the AU’s work and its role in Africa’s development.
Groom future African leaders by equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed for impactful leadership.
