DEADLINE DAY : Join the Resilience in Focus Photo Story Contest (Cash$1,000.)
Climate change represents one of the most critical challenges facing the world today, with significant impacts on our environment, economy, and society. As its effects worsen, it is essential for governments, institutions, and communities to adopt comprehensive strategies to enhance resilience and tackle the risks it brings.
Art plays a vital role in fostering sustainability and raising awareness about climate resilience. Through creative expression, we can motivate, educate, and unite people in a shared vision to combat climate change. In partnership with the Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO), the Global Resilience Partnership (GRP) is launching the Resilience in Focus Photo Story Contest to amplify the voices of African youth. This contest will use photography as a powerful tool to highlight both the challenges and solutions related to climate resilience.
The contest will spotlight stories focusing on five key climate resilience issues, in line with COP29 priorities:
Food and Water Security: Addressing food and water insecurity.
Biodiversity and Environmental Protection: Efforts to protect and restore biodiversity and prevent environmental degradation.
Urban Resilience: Strengthening urban areas to ensure safety and sustainability for all.
Disaster Preparedness: Enhancing readiness for extreme weather events and improving disaster recovery.
Cultural Inclusion: Integrating indigenous and local knowledge into decision-making processes.
Important Information:
The contest is open to all African youth aged 35 and under, with a special encouragement for females to apply.
