Job Role
Role Overview:
The Programme Intern role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the successful implementation of the Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI). The post holder will play a key role in supporting the coordination of strategic learning partnerships and managing communication and visibility efforts for the DDI project. Responsibilities include assisting in the coordination of strategic learning activities, including planning and organizing collaboration and learning sessions. The Programme intern is also expected to support the development, dissemination, and management of communication materials to enhance the project’s visibility, as well as fostering and maintaining relationships with regional and grassroots partners to ensure effective collaboration and knowledge sharing.
This position is ideal for someone at the beginning of their career with visible communication skills who is passionate about promoting digital democracy and supporting strategic learning.
Area of Responsibilities & Key Activities
Project Learning
· In close coordination with the Project Learning Coordinator support the facilitation of (online and in-person) peer-learning within and across the project in various regions, on project and local priority topics related to the utilisation of technology for enhanced democracy and civic space.
· Support the convening of global, regional, national, and local actors to test, learn, and share experiences and practices toward expanding civic space and inclusive by engaging with wider strategic networks.
· Support the development and dissemination of knowledge & learning products and resources on the project.
· Support the development and implementation of subgrants to develop and test local innovations that expand civic space and inclusive democracy through activities such as hack-a-thons, campaign co-designs, etc.
· Support the monitoring and evaluation of learning programs, including
data collection and reporting.
· Support the collation and summary of learnings from the partners and facilitate exchanges in a compelling manner.
· Support and ensure constant engagement with the wider DDI Community including those directly or indirectly reached via the project.
Communication and Visibility
· In close coordination with the project learning and communication coordinator, support the implementation of the communication and visibility strategy for the DDI Project.
· Support the production and dissemination of communication and visibility materials on behalf of the project and in close coordination with the wider DDI team and CIVICUS communications cluster.
· Support qualitative, efficient, and timely internal communication with CIVICUS colleagues via staff meetings, workplace updates and other relevant channels on project updates.
· Support regional and grassroots partners to amplify their stories and initiatives.
· Support the monitoring and evaluation of communication strategies and campaigns effectiveness.
Other
· The role holder will from time to time be required to carry out any other duties that are within the scope of the job.

Person Specification
Education, Language & Qualifications
· Degree in communications, development studies, journalism, social sciences or related field.
· Excellent written and verbal communication in English, fluency in another official UN language is an advantage.
Essential Knowledge, skills and Experience
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
· Proficiency in using digital communication tools and platforms, including social media, content management systems, and graphic, audio & video design & editing software.
Desirable Knowledge, skills and Experience
· Experience working with a diverse range of civil society actors across all global regions but particularly in the global south.
· Familiarity with translation processes and procedures.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team.
